TT Leftovers: September Edition

Hot tastes for cooler nights

Summer, sadly, is over. But September brought us a whole new set of delicious things to do. Here are a few extra helpings to start the new season right.

• The Green City Market moves to its winter abode (in the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum) at the end of October. Go now and try some of fall's highlights, like sweet-savory ground cherries.

• If you're one of the thousands who devoured Las Tablas' empanadas at Taste of Chicago, you'll be pleased to know they finally have a home of their own: Macondo.

• Ditch the downtown pub crawls and journey to an authentically old-world restaurant for a taste of Oktoberfest. The festival ends October 4, so go now for your yearly dose of wiener schnitzel and lederhosen.

• If you'd rather enjoy your beer at home, grab a Chimay and make Schwa's über-rich beer cheese soup. We got you the recipe--and the soundtrack to play while you tuck into it.

• September's big cocktail development: Tequila's back in town. Mercadito's all-tequila cocktail list takes the golden stuff far beyond margaritas, with the help of some of Chicago's best bar staff.
