Roving Feasts
Get one of the new food trucks to cater your next party
You don't need Twitter to find the new gourmet food trucks roaming the streets of L.A.: Have the trucks bring tacos, hot dogs or roadside barbecue directly to you.
The new Border Grill truck, a shiny black beast emblazoned with funky white graffiti, features classic Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger specialties like braised achiote pork tacos topped with orange-jicama slaw ($3), tangy mahi mahi ceviche cones ($5) and hot churro poppers ($5). It just started to roll around town two weeks ago, but with enough notice, it can be your own private taco truck for a party or event.
Guests can get the real street-food experience (have them pay individually) or the BG crew can do a fully catered blow-out complete with tables, set-up and servers. Either way, the minimum order is $1,000.
Here are some other trucks that bring street-eats to your curb:
Barbie's Q It's usually on Abbot Kinney, but for $7 a head (minimum 75 people), they will serve finger-lickin' ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and sides like barbecued beans.
Let's Be Frank Sue Moore will bring those snappy-skinned, all-beef hot dogs in a backyard cart or the big red trailer. Prices start at around $7 a head or a minimum of $650.
Kogi BBQ Those now-famous Korean short-rib tacos and spicy pork burritos are prepared fresh on premises, and you only have your friends to fight for a space in line. Minimum order is $1,000.
