Why should you love Riesling?

Because it smells like summer--like flowers, peaches and limes. Because it's dry. And sweet. And everything in between. Because it's magical with food. Because of terms like Spätlese and Trockenbeerenauslese; they're fun to say, even more fun to drink. Because of acid and noble rot.

And now, because of Riesling Week 2009. From May 18 through May 24, great restaurants and wine shops across New York will celebrate this most noble grape by pouring the best Riesling from Germany, Austria and Alsace.

During this fifth annual event presented by Wines of Germany and the EU, you'll be wowed by Riesling's versatility with special by-the-glass offerings, flights and food pairings at dozens of restaurants such as Craft, Double Crown, Morimoto, Hearth and Resto. And top wine shops--including Wine Therapy, Crush, Best Cellars and Bottlerocket--will pour free tastings of European Riesling all week long.
