Tacomatic

For some of Brooklyn's best tacos, head to the source

We've been taught to be skeptical of any food that comes from a factory, but a tiny taqueria kept (mostly) secret behind the facade of a Brooklyn tortilla factory has changed our minds.

What started as a makeshift taco stand inside Bushwick's Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos has since expanded into a glass-encased dining room where you can watch thick corn tortillas arrive--literally--hot off the press before you eat them.

The menu is sparse (since there really isn't one), but don't be fooled by the simplicity of the items: The flavors (pork, in particular) take time and a master's touch of seasoning to create.

Grab a Mexican Coke and choose from a no-frills array of standard taco fillings (all tacos are $2 each). Each comes dressed with lettuce, lime, crema, queso fresco and your choice of salsa--either slightly sweet red or the acidic green tomatillo.

And don't miss the chorizo taco, a juicy, spicy pork sausage flavored with cinnamon and hot peppers and topped with tender potatoes and a warm corn tortilla made just minutes ago.
