TT Leftovers: September Edition
This month's top flavors are out in full force
September's descent upon New York is quick and abrupt.
As "out of office" messages appear less frequently and the United Nations/Fashion Week/back-to-school overflow bloats the streets, it's easy to let things slip past. But worry not: Our top September stories will get you up to speed:
• Now that the beach is no longer a weekend getaway option, we're fixing our sights on Stony Creek Farms for out-of-town adventures. At this bucolic farm, you can learn the benefits of sustainability before cooking a wood-fired dinner from ingredients grown right outside your fancy tent's door.
• The bartenders of Ward III will shake you out of your routine with their highly skilled cocktail improvisations. Tell them a little bit about yourself and they'll mix you a bespoke drink on the spot.
• Leave Dunkin' Donuts for Beantown: The latest breakfast-time pastry peddler is Café Pedlar, home of Stumptown coffee and amazing pastries.
• Class is in session at Sushi Yasuda: With this restaurant's rare and unusual sushi offerings, every meal is an adventurous lesson in seafood anatomy.
• If August is about getting out of town, September is the time to stay--and eat--close to home. Celebrate the city and its neighboring farms with easy recipes from four of our favorite local-minded chefs.
