TT Leftovers: October Edition
Circling back on the month's best stories
Motorino a libretto | Jake Dickson | Lulu & Mooky's
Though it may not be official until we "fall back" this weekend, the days have been feeling shorter (and consequently busier) than ever. Rest assured, the city's top tastemakers haven't missed a beat this month--but in case you have, here's an October flashback of the best:
• Head to Lulu and Mooky's for a science experiment in a cone: Tell them what flavors you like and they'll make an instant batch of personalized ice cream on the spot using the magic of liquid nitrogen.
• We've all experienced that moment of panic when handed a wine menu that rivals War & Peace in size. Now, with the help of WineChap, you can conquer wine list phobia before you enter the restaurant. The handy new website (and forthcoming iPhone app) sifts through lists for the best picks at restaurants across town so you don't have to.
• Motorino's Neapolitan pies, now available in the East Village, continue to blow us away. And the crafty origami-esque take-out packaging (a libretto) makes for awesome one-handed eating.
• Beloved brewpub Heartland Brewery has branched out, giving you more chances to sip on limited-edition suds like highly seasonal Smiling Pumpkin Ale. Try it and other forthcoming creations from brewmaster Kelly Taylor at spots across the city.
• Our meat sweetheart Jake Dickson has finally set up shop: Visit him at his new storefront in Chelsea Market to stock up on your favorite standard cuts and more obscure items like specialty poultry (a holiday goose, perhaps?).
