A donation to Robin Hood means Thanksgiving for eight

A few days after Thanksgiving, leftovers become burdensome. But before the frustration about your celebratory excess sets in, consider those for whom it would be a welcome "problem."

For many New Yorkers, this is an especially tough year for setting the Thanksgiving table: Last week's report from the Agricultural Department announced that the percentage of families in this country that have difficulty feeding themselves has jumped to almost 15 percent.

But with a little help from you, Robin Hood's Food for Good campaign can make sure more families have a proper holiday. Robin Hood has partnered with Fresh Direct to supply food for 120,000 New Yorkers this holiday season. Your $50 donation will provide a turkey and all of the fixings for a family of eight.

The organization--which teams up with more than 240 other programs to battle poverty--makes sure that every gift is put to its fullest use by matching each donation dollar for dollar through special grants and by applying 100 percent of the gifts toward charity.
