Pressed's New Tropical Smoothie Packs An Unexpected Protein Punch
Visit a Pressed location and you'll likely notice that, unlike many other juice bars, it is not filled with the constant high-pitched whine of a running blender. Instead, you'll find bottles of smoothies and cold-pressed juices, as well as frozen treats like smoothie bowls, "freezes," and vegan ice cream (via Pressed). (This is not to say Pressed doesn't value fresh ingredients. The company makes clear its commitment to using quality, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients — going so far as to press its own turmeric instead of relying on powder.)
While you're sure to find your standard assortment of green juices and vitamin C shots year-round, the juice chain also adds seasonal products and cleanses to its lineup. To kick off the new year, Pressed sent a statement to Tasting Table announcing the new items coming to its menu. Among these is a fruity smoothie featuring a bevy of tropical fruits and a perhaps surprising amount of protein.
The new tropical smoothie from Pressed keeps you fueled up with plenty of protein
In a statement shared with Tasting Table, Pressed shared a new item coming to its lineup: the Tropical Protein Smoothie. Made with pineapple, banana, mango, dragonfruit, açai, lemon, and monk fruit sweetener, the new bottled smoothie flavor also contains pea protein isolate, allowing it to pack 10 grams of protein in each bottle. Not only does this help keep you feeling full, Rejuvenated explains the protein "slow[s] the body's absorption of natural sugars" so you can hopefully avoid that blood sugar spike that sometimes comes from drinking fruit juice.
In addition to having 10 grams of protein, the new Tropical Protein Smoothies contain 140 calories per serving, 60 milligrams of vitamin C, 1.7 milligrams of iron, and 180 milligrams of potassium. Each bottle contains one serving, so you don't have to do any math when looking at the nutrition label. The bottles retail for $6.95 and can be bought individually or in packs of six in Pressed stores and online.
