Classic Hoisin Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons black bean paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 prunes
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon chile paste
  • ½ teaspoon fish sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
Directions
  1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor, along with 1 tablespoon of water.
  2. Blend everything together until a smooth paste has formed.
  3. Thin the sauce by blending in an additional tablespoon of water if necessary.
  4. Store the homemade hoisin sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
