From-Scratch Blueberry Pie Filling Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
Directions
  1. Add the cornstarch and water to a large saucepan. Whisk together until smooth.
  2. Add the sugar, blueberries, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from the heat then stir in the butter and almond extract until combined.
  4. Allow the pie filling to cool completely, then use as desired.
