Spiced Beef Kofta Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon sumac
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Chili flakes, to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
Directions
  1. Heat up a grill or broiler.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the rice flour, fennel seeds, onion powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, sumac, garlic powder, and chili flakes.
  3. Place the ground beef into a large bowl, then add the spice mixture, egg, chopped cilantro, and salt and pepper.
  4. Using your hands, mix the ingredients together until well combined.
  5. Roughly divide the mixture into 6 portions.
  6. Roll each portion of beef into a sausage shape around a metal or bamboo skewer, then set them on a plate.
  7. When the grill or broiler is ready, brush the kofta with oil and place them onto the hot surface.
  8. Cook the kofta for 6 minutes, then flip to cook for another 6 minutes on the other side until the exterior is browned and the beef is cooked through.
  9. Serve hot.
