  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅓ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 large vine tomatoes
  • 1 (11-ounce) pack ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 tablespoons freshly-grated Parmesan
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, sliced
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Line a smaller baking sheet with paper towels.
  4. In a bowl, add the cream cheese, Italian herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Mix well to combine and then set aside.
  6. Cut the tomatoes into ¼-inch thick slices.
  7. Place the sliced tomatoes onto the tray with the kitchen towel for 10 minutes to absorb some of the excess moisture.
  8. Whisk the egg to make an egg wash.
  9. Roll out the puff pastry on a clean surface.
  10. Cut the pastry into 8 rectangles and place them on the prepared baking tray.
  11. Spread the cream cheese mixture in the center of the pastry squares, leaving a ½-inch edge.
  12. Brush the egg wash around the edges of the pastry.
  13. Place 2 tomato slices on top of the cream cheese on each pastry.
  14. Place the baking sheet into the oven and cook the Danishes for 20 to 22 minutes, until the pastry is puffed up and golden.
  15. Remove the pastries from the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes.
  16. Top with the grated Parmesan and fresh basil just before serving.
