Crispy Buttered Turmeric Rice Recipe

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, diced
2 cups basmati rice
1 tablespoon turmeric
1 tablespoon curry powder OR garam masala
3½ cups water
2 tablespoons slivered almonds
Directions
Rinse rice under water.
Melt butter in a pan on medium-high heat. Saute diced onion in butter for 10 minutes.
Add rice and cook for 5 more minutes, then add turmeric and garam masala (or curry powder.)
Add water and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
Serve with slivered almonds or fried onions.
