Crispy Buttered Turmeric Rice Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder OR garam masala
  • 3½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds
Directions
  1. Rinse rice under water.
  2. Melt butter in a pan on medium-high heat. Saute diced onion in butter for 10 minutes.
  3. Add rice and cook for 5 more minutes, then add turmeric and garam masala (or curry powder.)
  4. Add water and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve with slivered almonds or fried onions.
