- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon allspice berries
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves. Lower the heat to a simmer and stir in the cinnamon stick and allspice berries.
- Allow to simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool to room temperature. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
