- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 large eggs
- 1 ¾ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- Preheat the oven to 325 F, then grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- Add the flour and cocoa powder to a small mixing bowl and whisk to combine, then set aside.
- Add the eggs and sugar to the bowl of a mixer and mix on medium speed for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the vanilla and the cocoa mixture to the mixing bowl and mix on low until just combined.
- Add melted butter and mix on low until just combined — do not over mix.
- Turn the batter out into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Place the baking dish into a larger baking dish and pour water into the larger baking dish, so that it comes halfway up the sides of the 2-quart baking dish.
- Place the dishes in the preheated oven and bake for 55 to 60 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is just barely set. A toothpick inserted into the center should not come out clean — the center should be moist and fudgy.
- Carefully remove the brownie pan from the water bath, set it aside to cool slightly, then serve warm with ice cream.
