Guy Fieri's Favorite Chicago Restaurants
BY DB Kelly
Manny's
Opened in 1942, Manny's prides itself on offering heaping portions of delicious foods while specializing in Jewish staples, such as matzah and corned beef.
In "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," Guy Fieri shared that Manny's is "one of the reasons why" Chicago is one of his favorite food towns.
La Scarola
Fieri loves the Italian restaurant La Scarola for its delicious, classic cuisine. However, the Food Network isn't the only one praising the restaurant.
Tripadvisor ranks La Scarola 26 out of over 8,500 Chicago restaurants, with scores of five-star reviews lauding its incredible food, like the grilled calamari, and friendly staff.
Frosted Mug
When speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Fieri shared that his first Chicago experience was a hot Italian beef sandwich that made him think he "was going to lose my mind."
He was likely referring to The Frosted Mug, a small diner in south Chicago. Unfortunately, it shut down a year after appearing on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."
Smoque BBQ
While Fieri didn't share his favorite barbecue style during a Vice interview, he revealed, "One of my favorite barbecue joints is in Chicago, a place called Smoque."
Tripadvisor has it at 2 of 438 "quick bites" restaurants in Chicago, with an overwhelming number of five-star reviews for its food, service, and atmosphere.
Kuma's Corner
Kuma's Corner boasts that they serve "The Best Burgers on the Planet," which many agree with. It's ranked 94 of 8,545 Chicago restaurants listed on Tripadvisor.
When Fieri visited Kuma's Corner, he was impressed with the Black Sabbath burger, calling it one of the top five burgers he'd ever had on the show.
