How To Determine Where Your Bourbon Really Came From
BY SIMONE GERBER
If you want to know where a bourbon was produced, there are keywords to look out for on the label. In the United States, spirits must state where they were bottled or produced.
Terms like "bottled by" and "packed by" indicate where the bourbon was put into a bottle, whereas "distilled by" and "produced by" indicate where the bourbon was made.
Sometimes, a bottle will be distilled and bottled in the same place, but not always, so ensure there is some specification that the bourbon was distilled in a certain location.
As for where the best bourbon comes from, many aficionados state that Kentucky produces the best, but individual states bring their own special aspects to the production process.
