Ina Garten Always Stores These Ingredients At Room Temperature
By HOPE NGO
While many food items should be stored in the fridge at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below, others actually benefit from staying at room temperature, as chef Ina Garten knows.
While citrus fruits like lemons are commonly stored in the fridge, Garten stores hers at room temperature. She also keeps eggs and garlic within easy reach on her kitchen counter.
Garten keeps these staples out of the fridge so she can grab them more quickly while cooking and baking. Citrus fruits also yield more juice when they're not too cold.
Garten also notes that in baking recipes, eggs at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit are optimal and combine the best with other ingredients. The same temperature also applies to butter.
While the USDA warns against keeping store-bought eggs at room temperature, Garten cooks so often that her go-to ingredients likely don't sit out on the counter for long.
