Ina Garten Doesn't Even Bother Serving These Thanksgiving Staples
By Julia Holland
Professional TV cook Ina Garten's Thanksgiving dinner is anything but typical. She has admitted to omitting two Thanksgiving staples: stuffing and hor d'oeuvres.
Garten told "Food and Wine Magazine," "You don't need stuffing. People have more fun if they don't eat so much they have to be taken home in an ambulance."
"And no hors d'oeuvres; I learned this from the French," said Garten. Thanksgiving dinner is a feast so large that snacking would contribute to Garten's fear of overeating.
Garten says her personal choices for Thanksgiving are "turkey with spinach gratin and smashed sweet potatoes with orange." She also makes a baked carrot dish and an apple crisp.
