Ina Garten told Food Network that out of all the special holiday meals she cooks each year, Thanksgiving is her favorite, and she knows how to keep the occasion stress-free.
One of Garten's favorite recipes is "Accidental Turkey" from her "Barefoot Contessa Foolproof" cookbook, paired with spinach gratin, truffle mashed potatoes, and rum pumpkin pie.
Garten buys her ingredients early and asks guests to bring some dishes to cut down on prep work, and splits up her workload between Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Garten told Food Network, "For years I believed that food was better if you made it right before you ate it. I had to force myself to start doing things differently."
This perspective led the chef to create a make-ahead turkey and gravy recipe. Following Garten's lead, you won't be stressed out up to the last minute before dinner.
