The best technique is to use a steak marinade to add flavor and tenderize the meat before it goes onto the grill. Marinate it for up to 24 hours for the best results.
Most chuck steaks are tougher than more fatty steaks, so you might want to cook it until it reaches a medium-rare or medium doneness to break down the connective tissues.
This can be even more important if you skip the marinade. However, be careful not to cook it past medium doneness, which might result in a tough and chewy steak.
