Julia Child Swore By An Unusual Drink Called 'Angosoda'
BY STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
Culinary legend Julia Child had an unusual drink of choice — the mocktail called Angosoda, which Child invented in the 1970s using sparkling water, lime, and Angostura bitters.
To prepare the drink, follow Child's 1978 cookbook recipe, in which she advises using "a large, handsome, stemmed glass" along with Perrier, but you can use any sparkling water.
Plop a few ice cubes into your glass, top with a few drops of Angostura bitters and a slice of lime, and fill your glass the rest of the way with sparkling water.
Angostura makes different types of bitters, but opt for an aromatic bottle, which combines notes of fruit, spices, and herbs, giving you a light and refreshing drink.
