Martha Stewart’s 3 Rules For Hosting Successful Parties
BY KAREN HART
On Reddit, Martha Stewart offers her three hosting rules for a successful party: "1. Pay attention to your guests. 2. Interact with them. 3. Feed them fine food and wine."
Although paying attention to guests seems simple, for Stewart, it's very intentional. It's about anticipating your guests' wants and needs and keeping an eye on the little things.
For Stewart, that might mean offering refills or preemptively serving a second slice of pie. Stewart also creates a signature cocktail for the party to make guests feel special.
Stewart’s second rule reminds hosts that the guests are central to the party, so it’s important to interact with them above all of the other responsibilities of hosting.
For Stewart, sometimes that means letting guests lend a hand in the kitchen, getting them involved in the party, or playing games if there are kids involved.
Lastly, Stewart always offers guests food and wine, usually by having some food prepared before the guests arrive so they can nosh and drink while the meal finishes cooking.
