Never Ignore One Particular Breakfast Buffet Red Flag
BY SARAH LINTAKOON
The appeal of a breakfast buffet is to offer customers as many options as they please, but of all the foods on offer, you should stay away from the fresh fruit.
If improperly cleaned, poorly handled, or stored at the wrong temperature, fresh fruit can become a breeding ground for the bacteria that cause food poisoning.
While produce that has been properly handled and stored is perfectly fine to eat, you should stay away if it's been sitting out in warm conditions or looks suspicious.
Avoid produce that looks discolored or has a soft texture. Fruits that grow low to the ground like strawberries and melons are particularly hazardous, so inspect them thoroughly.
