No-Peek Chicken Uses A Simple Steaming Tactic For Delectable Results
BY KAREN HART
No-peek chicken is a dish that's gone viral on TikTok. It's an easy and tasty family meal that uses only a baking dish and some tin foil for perfectly steamed chicken.
This dish uses affordable rice, condensed cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups, chicken broth (or water), onion soup mix, chicken, salt, and pepper.
The dish bakes in the oven for 1 to 1.5 hours in a baking dish tightly sealed with foil, which traps moisture to create a flavorful, steam-cooked dish of juicy chicken and creamy rice.
The key is to not lift the foil to check on the contents as it cooks, which gives the dish its name. Peeking may be tempting, but you'll let out all that precious steam.
You can use any kind of chicken cut. Some like to sear chicken breasts before tucking them into the rice mixture, while others add uncooked legs or thighs directly to the dish.
Customize the dish further by trying different soups and rice varieties. Just keep in mind that brown or multigrain rice will take longer to cook than white rice does.
You can also add veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Leftovers are a treat and likely to be gone soon, but if needed, you can freeze this dish for up to three months.
