Ranking Yellow Mustard Brands From Worst To Best
BY Sara Klimek
10. Great Value Southwest
Although Great Value's Southwest "hot" mustard promises a spicy product, it fails to deliver a condiment that leaves a lasting impression.
The heat of the sauce is muted. It seems as though Great Value is more concerned about making a spicy product and forgot it was supposed to primarily be mustard.
9. Nature's Promise
Many marketers use the "organic" label to attract customers looking for healthier food. One such brand is Nature's Promise, with its organic yellow mustard.
Unfortunately, the mustard is nearly double the price of other brands and has a metallic flavor. It's also neither sharp nor acidic enough to be satisfying.
8. Stop & Shop
Stop & Shop's yellow mustard has the same consistency as other generic and premium mustard brands, perfect for adding to grilled hot dogs.
However, its flavor is rather unremarkable. It tastes like ground mustard seeds, but there's no acidity or brightness present in the Stop & Shop product.
7. Woodstock
Rather than simply using traditional mustard ingredients, Woodstock organic yellow mustard also packs paprika, turmeric, and other spices in the mix.
For some, this might be an unwelcome surprise. Making matters worse is that the actual mustard flavor of this condiment is dull, despite having a good amount of acidity.
6. Great Value Organic
Great Value organic mustard can have the problem of burping, making it problematic to use as it shoots out spurts of the product when the bottle is squeezed.
In addition to the burping issue that results in less mustard where you want it, the condiment has a thin texture that's not as satisfying as other brands.
