Should Salmon Be Covered When Baking In The Oven?
By JENNIFER SWEENIE
Salmon is high on the list of popular go-to meals, since the fish typically cooks quickly and evenly and is a pretty solid choice for lunch or dinner. One of the easiest ways to cook salmon is in the oven, but you may be wondering if you should cover your fish with foil, parchment, or something else while cooking.
Some recipes for oven-baked dishes call keeping a lid or some foil on top of the food, in order to trap the heat and speed things up. However, this method isn't the best for salmon or meats such as roast chicken; keeping your protein uncovered will lead to a crispy exterior and tender interior, with nothing soggy about it.
For best results, bake your salmon uncovered and remove it from the oven when the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit. The cook time will depend on the oven and the size of the filet, so be sure to pay attention to your salmon and use your thermometer, instead of waiting for a set amount of time.
