Start Cleaning One Part Of Your Keurig Machine Immediately
BY Martha Brennan
While a Keurig makes it easy to brew coffee without any mess, it's also easy to overlook the machine's upkeep, especially one of its important parts — the pod holder assembly.
The pod holder assembly, or PHA, consists of the pod holder and the funnel. Regularly cleaning them preserves the taste and quality of coffee and keeps mold and bacteria at bay.
Mold thrives in the warm and moist area of the PHA, so it's vital to clean it. For this, remove used pods and wipe the holder with an antibacterial towelette daily.
Next, deep clean the PHA weekly: open the machine, pull the holder and funnel apart, and wash them with soap. Then, insert a paperclip's end into the needle to clear any clog.
Rinse everything off and air dry before placing it back in the machine. Finally, run the machine through with water at least twice, and get ready to enjoy your next cup.
