The 2 Best Methods For Making Candied Pecans
By KATIE HORST
Candied pecans make for a great snack, salad topping, cheese plate component, or pie filling. These pecans can be mistaken for pralines, but are really more modern and simple candy-coated nuts that are much easier to make at home; you even have two different methods to choose as you please.
You can make candied pecans on the stove or in the oven. For the oven method, coat the pecans in an egg white and sugar mixture, then toss them with your chosen spices; then, spread the pecans on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for up to an hour, following the temp listed in your recipe.
The stove-top method provides more control, can be quicker, and does not use egg whites. This method usually involves cooking brown sugar and spices until bubbling in a non-stick pan; once the coating is smooth, toss in the pecan halves, stir, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes and no more, or else the sugar coating can burn.
