The 3-Ingredient Chicken Wing Sauce You Need For Game Day
BY Javaria Akbar
Combining a bottle of store-bought barbecue sauce and teriyaki sauce with a cup of maple syrup can make for a great chicken wing sauce you can pour over 20-25 wings.
The sauce should cover all the wings if put on a shallow baking tray. You can also marinate them in a zip seal bag overnight before placing them on a baking dish for oven-roasting.
Cook them at 375 degrees Fahrenheit; turn them over twice during the process to help the sauce evaporate and thicken. Once they are tender, increase the heat to crisp them up.
If there's still a lot of sauce in the dish, remove half and toss it, or cook it down in a pan to make a drizzle or dip. With some monitoring, the sauce should cling to the wings.
This sauce works especially well because barbecue sauce has a smoky aroma and deep color, teriyaki sauce is packed with umami soy, and maple syrup provides stickiness.
Plus, all three ingredients have an inherent sweetness, which helps the wings caramelize and develop a flavor-packed exterior and succulent center as the sauce condenses.
