The Air Fryer Method To Make Sun-Dried Tomatoes At Home
BY AMANDA BERRILL
Air fryers are versatile kitchen appliances, and when put on a low temperature, they can even work to dehydrate foods like tomatoes to create homemade sundried tomatoes.
Start by preheating your air fryer to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, prepare your tomatoes by cutting them in half if they're small or into thick slices for larger tomatoes.
Place the tomatoes in the air fryer in a single layer and cook for 45 minutes. Flip the tomatoes and cook for another 30 minutes to an hour, depending on thickness.
If you notice the tomatoes retain too much moisture as they cook, you can press down on them with a spatula and continue cooking until they reach your desired texture.
Let the dried tomatoes fully cool before using, and then store them in an airtight container in the freezer or pack them in olive oil to keep them from spoiling.
