The Dark Chocolate Bar We Wouldn't Splurge On Again
BY Claire Redden
In Tasting Table's 20 grocery store dark chocolate bars ranking, Lily's Intensely Dark chocolate was by far the worst due to its overly bitter, artificial taste.
While some customers might appreciate the fact that these bars are sugar free and are instead made with the sugar substitute stevia, it doesn't do much to sweeten the chocolate.
Even a bit of sweetness would go a long way in a bar with a 92% cocoa content, but the stevia only produces a nasty artificial aftertaste, leaving the bars tasting bitter.
Customers find these bars overpriced. Plus, the bars don't contain any cocoa butter, leading eaters to find the texture chalky and compare their experience to eating cocoa powder.
