The Drink Anthony Bourdain Recommended For Any Occasion
BY AUTUMN SWIERS
The caipirinha is Brazil's national drink made of lime, cachaça liquor, and sugar, and according to Chef Anthony Bourdain, it's versatile and perfect for any occasion.
In an episode of "Parts Unknown," Bourdain visited Brazil and lauded the caipirinha as "a utility beverage good for any time of day, or any social occasion."
The drink is similar to a muddled daiquiri but with a distinct taste from cachaça, Brazil's national spirit made of distilled sugarcane with funky, grassy, vegetal notes.
You can make the beverage by muddling together a lime wedge with sugar and topping it with ice and cachaça, adding more lime juice or water for a tamer flavor.
