The Easy Ingredient To Replace Mayo With For Flavorful Tuna Salad
By JENNIFER SWEENIE
When making tuna salad, you're probably inclined to reach for the mayonnaise. However, if you don't have mayo on hand, you're tired of it, or you simply don't like it, there's a flavorful and healthy ingredient you may have sitting in your produce bowl that makes a great stand-in for delicious tuna salad.
Mashed avocado is a perfect mayo substitute due to its rich and luscious texture that adds fat and creaminess to tuna, and it comes with many added health benefits. Avocados are full of vitamins, minerals, and satiating healthy fats, and may tide you over to dinner better than a spoonful of mayo would.
Since mayo contains vinegar and salt, you may want to add seasonings and a splash of vinegar or lemon juice to your avocado for some extra flavor. Yogurt is also a great replacement for mayo due to its creamy texture, particularly thick Greek yogurt, and you can even combine yogurt and avocado in tuna salad.
