The Ideal Way To Prep Peppers Before Stuffing Them
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
The best way to prepare stuffed peppers is to pre-cook them before stuffing. This shortens the cooking time and will ensure they are fully cooked without being overcooked.
To prepare your peppers to be pre-cooked, wash them, cut the tops and stems, and remove the veins and seeds inside. Use a spoon to help make this process easier.
You can either cut the peppers in half lengthwise or leave them whole after they’re prepped. When they’re ready to cook, you have two pre-cooking methods to choose from.
The first method is boiling. To do this, place the peppers in a large pot, cover them with water, bring them to a boil, reduce the heat, and continue cooking until they are tender.
To pre-cook peppers in the oven, preheat the oven, place the peppers inside until tender, and then fill and return them to the oven for the rest of the cooking time.
Another quick way to get those peppers ready is to microwave them for two to three minutes before filling them and continuing the cooking process in the oven.
