The Key For Gourmet Bread Pudding Is Sweetened Condensed Milk
BY SARA KLIMEK
Bread pudding is made of torn pieces of bread soaked in a vat of custard. This custard is often made with cream, milk, sugar, fat, and some flavoring, like vanilla extract.
Adding sweetened condensed milk to the recipe, you'll develop a rich sweet flavor from the custard that will infuse with each piece of bread. You’ll also use less sugar.
Dilute the sweetened condensed milk with some milk or water before you mix it in with the rest of your custard ingredients. Otherwise, it won't soak up into the bread.
Stale bread will be more effective at soaking up all that custard. After you mix and cover your bread, pop the container into the fridge overnight so the flavors intensify.
