The Michelin-Starred Restaurant Inside Scotland's Oldest Working Whisky Distillery

At Scotland’s oldest whiskey distillery, Glenturret, lies the newly opened Glenturret Lalique Restaurant, which secured a Michelin star just seven months after opening.
Although Glenturret opened in 1763, the Glenturret Lalique Restaurant only recently opened in 2019, when the luxury French lifestyle company, The Lalique Group, bought the distillery.
Since then, the restaurant has earned a Michelin star not only for its ambiance, which blends the everyday with luxury, but also for Chef Mark Donald’s exceptional food.
At the small six-table restaurant, you can partake in tasting menus starting at £195 (about $240) from Wednesday to Saturday, or head to the bar for a more casual lunch.
Lunch is accompanied by Glenturret’s exceptional drams of whiskey for those who’d like to partake, or diners can choose their libations from an award-winning wine list.
Glenturret's Managing Director John Laurie said the dual restaurant and distillery works because the fine dining “reflects the [distillery’s] skill, heritage, and Scottish heart.”
However, the distillery is adamant about creating a layered experience, catering to both fine diners and the casual “family who wants to have a bowl of soup and a sandwich.”
