The Reason You Should Start Cooking Your Pasta In Cold Water
BY CATHERINE NYORANI
The conventional method of cooking pasta involves bringing salted water to a boil before adding the noodles. However, starting with cold water can do the job more efficiently.
Adding pasta to water from the start and then bringing it to a boil allows the noodles to absorb more water. They cook faster once the water boils, saving you time.
Boiling pasta and water concurrently also cuts down on the amount of time the stove is on full blast, which saves energy. The pasta also releases more starch into the water.
Many recipes make use of the starchy water left over from boiling pasta, which can make sauces smoother and richer. This method gives you more starch for better sauces.
