The Secret To Grilling Frozen Steaks Without Thawing Them First
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Grilling frozen steaks may result in juicier meat, but doing so requires a few special considerations. First, ensure that your frozen steaks are still in their prime.
Next, consider the amount of time you have, as cooking frozen steaks may take double the amount of time it would take to cook a fresh steak.
It's also worth noting that it will be nearly impossible for any spices to stick to frozen meat, so hold off on the steak seasoning until after the meat is seared.
Utilize the two-zone grilling method. This means part of your grill will be hot enough to sear the steak, while the other area should have a lower temperature to ensure doneness.
It’ll take 10 minutes to sear the steaks over direct heat on both sides, flipping halfway through. For medium doneness, your thermometer should read between 140 and 150 degrees F.
