The Simple Ingredient Additions That Turn Ricotta Into A Sweet Treat
BY EMERY PEARSON
Ricotta is right at home in savory dishes like lasagna and stuffed pasta, but the mild, creamy cheese is just as delicious when paired with sweet ingredients.
For a bit of citrussy brightness, add lemon zest or juice, top it with jam for a rich, fruity note, or sprinkle on cinnamon, cocoa powder, or nuts for an earthy dimension.
You can also whip the ricotta to give it a light, airy texture, or if you like sweet and savory, use ricotta as a spread on toast before topping with honey and fresh berries.
There are no limits to the flavor combinations you can create, and you can even emulate a cannoli by mixing in chocolate chips, chopped pistachios, and almond extract.
