Chef Daniel Boulud thinks that French madeleines are the perfect cookie, which is why these treats have been generously doled out at his restaurant since 1993.

After feasting on exquisitely prepared meals at Boulud's Michelin-ranked eatery Daniel, diners are presented with free madeleines and even offered additional cookies to carry home.
"While I may not remember some of the dishes I ate at Daniel, the mini madeleines are etched in my memory," says blogger Michael Fe of his dining experience.
Fragrant and soft with a delicate crust, Boulud's madeleines are served dusted with powdered sugar and nestled inside an origami-esque arrangement of napkins.
When served warm, madeleines provide a taste of buttery comfort, transforming the environment of an award-winning restaurant into something that feels familiar.
Boulud tells home chefs to consider contrasts when serving madeleines. He suggests pairing the fresh cookies with a bottle of bubbly or Ruinart Blanc de Blancs champagne.
