The Simple Way To Clean Your Coffee Maker Using Vinegar
BY JOHN TOLLEY
Your coffee maker can be a breeding ground for bacteria and mold due to its warm, moist environment created by steaming-hot water. Distilled white vinegar can help you out.
Pour up to 4 cups of vinegar in the reservoir of the coffee maker and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. This is where most of the bacteria builds up, and vinegar will clear it.
Next, put a container under the coffee maker and let it run a cycle as if you’re brewing a fresh pot, allowing the vinegar to clean the inside components of the machine.
Rinse out the reservoir, then run the coffee maker three more times with clean water to ensure that the vinegar has been washed out. Then, you're ready to brew with it.
Cleaning your machine with vinegar monthly will keep your appliance in tip-top shape and give you great-tasting coffee every time, with no bacteria or off flavors in sight.
