The Spicy Ingredient That Will Change Your Morning Coffee Forever
By ALI FAGAN
Adding a pinch or two of spice is a great way to enhance the flavor of coffee, add depth, and revamp a humdrum cup of joe. However, traditional additions tend to be warmer spices such as cinnamon or cardamom, but have you ever considered using something spicier, like maybe cayenne?
While cayenne and coffee might sound like a strange combination, it’s a popular drink among some coffee lovers. Plus, both cayenne and coffee offer notable health benefits, with coffee linked to reduced inflammation and decreased risk of developing certain cancers and diseases, while cayenne is a good source of vitamins and capsaicin.
If you're interested in trying this flavor combination, it is advised to start with a small amount of ground cayenne pepper because a little bit goes a long way. Cayenne pepper can be added to coffee in two different ways: either with the coffee grounds before brewing, or after the coffee has already been made.
