The Sushi Anthony Bourdain Steered Clear Of At All Costs
BY MICHELLE WELSCH
Sushi is best enjoyed as fresh as possible, which is why Anthony Bourdain had some stern advice to share with fans regarding what kind of sushi they should pass on.
It’s best to avoid discount sushi, said Bourdain. "I can't imagine a better example of 'Things To Be Wary Of' in the food department than bargain sushi," the chef stated.
While discount prices may be tempting, they’re likely a reflection of the sushi’s freshness. The fish may not be spoiled, but it’s almost certainly past its eating prime.
For sushi safety when you plan to buy it in advance, opt for a cooked roll rather than anything with raw fish, and inspect it for any slime or discoloration before eating.
