The Umami Ingredient For More Flavorful Salmon
BY LUNA REGINA
Miso paste is perfect for adding a sweet, savory, salty and tangy flavor to your salmon. This umami ingredient is flavorful but also lets the fish’s natural lightness shine.
There are three main types of miso to choose from: white, yellow, and red. White is light in taste, yellow is nutty and more pronounced, while red is bold.
Most commonly, the salmon is covered in a miso glaze. It usually includes miso paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and seasonings of choice.
You can also make a miso marinade to infuse the salmon with flavor from the inside out using the same ingredients as the glaze. Marinate the salmon for just a few hours.
