This State Produces The Most Hazelnuts In The US

Hazelnuts are one of the most popular nuts in the U.S. as well as one of the most expensive, and they are used in a wide variety of dishes from sweet to savory. As for who grows all those hazelnuts, you’ll need to look at the northwest region of the U.S., where you’ll find the state that produces almost all the country’s hazelnuts.
According to Oregon State University, as of 2017, 99% of the country's hazelnuts were grown in Oregon, with the other 1% coming from Washington. OSU adds that the other 1% of domestically produced hazelnuts come from Washington, and the hazelnuts grown in Oregon make up between 3 and 5% of the world's entire hazelnut production.
While Oregon is producing a massive amount of hazelnuts, the numbers don’t even come close to the hazelnut production outside the U.S., with Turkey producing 82% of hazelnuts. As far as the U.S. goes, it’s likely we’ll see some production distributed across the country as new science allows.
