Tips For Giving Your Toaster Oven The Ultimate Deep Clean
By VANESSA NIX ANTHONY
For toaster oven cleaning and maintenance, Apartment Therapy recommends a light cleaning after each use and a deeper cleaning weekly for health and safety reasons. The easiest cleaning fix is to unplug the oven, wait for it to cool, dump the crumb tray, and give it a quick wipe down with a damp cloth.
For deep cleaning, first, unplug the toaster oven, remove the crumb tray and racks and plunge them into a sink with some mild dish soap and warm water to soak. Consumer Reports recommends mixing vinegar, warm water, and a little dish soap and using good old-fashioned elbow grease to wipe the oven.
Metal scouring pads and abrasive cleaners are discouraged for use in cleaning toaster ovens as they may damage the oven's coating or finish. For the glass door, America's Test Kitchen recommends pairing a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with warm water.
