We Think You Should Skip Ordering One Olive Garden Soup
BY Autumn Swiers
In Tasting Table’s ranking of Olive Garden soups, the chain's chicken and gnocchi soup came in last place among all the steamy varieties available.
The chain’s website describes the soup as toothy potato dumplings bobbing in a lush, creamy broth, loaded with savory flavor and tender veggies — but ultimately fails to deliver.
The thick broth indicates a filling soup, but it’s deceptive, as the gnocchi are few and the chicken pieces are sparse. In short, its concentration of solids per bowlful is weak.
However, the shredded carrots and wilted spinach add appeal with their pops of color. The gnocchi itself is plump and soft but appears to veer on the undercooked side.
The undercooked theme is also true of the minimal chicken pieces, which are totally unseasoned and are simply parboiled and tossed into the pot still pink.
