What Are Klondike Bars If They Aren't All Real Ice Cream?
BY Neala Broderick
Although their website specifically mentions "ice cream," the product details of Klondike bars say otherwise. The dessert itself is actually labeled as a "frozen dairy product."
To be legally labeled ice cream, products in the U.S. have to contain at least 10% milk fat; however, the first ingredient listed for each Klondike bar flavor is nonfat milk.
The original version seems to be made with real vanilla ice cream, while other Klondike products like the Cookies & Creme bar are carefully labeled as a "frozen dairy dessert."
