Texas Roadhouse’s Road Kill is a dish made from chopped steak, served smothered in a mess of sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, and gooey jack cheese (hence the name).
That may sound like a loaded cheeseburger sans the bun, but chopped steak specifically calls for ground sirloin, which is leaner than the usual, fatty ground beef used in burgers.
Since less fat means less flavor, Texas Roadhouse uses heavy seasoning for the Road Kill patty. It's made to meet diners’ preferences for doneness and can be customized with sides.
Sides like baked potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and steak fries go well with the dish. You can also upgrade it by adding grilled shrimp or ribs, a.k.a. "sidekicks."
The Road Kill is now a cult favorite among Texas Roadhouse regulars, with one commenter writing in a Reddit thread, "Looks like road kill but tastes like heaven."
